The annual innovation reward of the city of Tampere was given to Kimmo Sajakorpi on 30.9.2005. The reward was handed over in the occasion held in Tampere City Hall by Mr. Esa Kotilahti, the vice-mayor of the city of Tampere.

The candidates were evaluated by a jury established by the administration of the city of Tampere. The chairman of the jury was Professor Markku Mattila from the Ministry of Education.
