ArcMade - Research of filament materials and oil types
The scope of the project was to study different filament materials, their properties and applicability for oil recovery in arctic circumstances.
One of the most important properties to find out were filaments’ hydrophobic properties and their ability to adhere different oil types. In addition to the properties to collect oil, filaments had to function in cold temperatures and to withstand hot steam and water, mechanical abrasion and UV radiation of the sun.
Project was part of Arctic Seas program of the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation (Tekes).
